Salesian Pilgrimage

We thought that the Bicentenary Year is a very good opportunity to invite people to go and see the places where Don Bosco started his mission to the young and had founded the Salesian Congregation to continue his mission.

We will visit: Don Bosco, Shroud of Turin, Passion Play & Milan.

Day 1 
05.30hrs check-in at Dublin airport for Aer Lingus flight to Milan Linate departing at 07.10, arriving at 10.40. Meet coach and guide, and drive to Turin. Afternoon visit the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians where we celebrate Mass, and see the Tombs of St John Bosco and St Dominic Savio. Visit the church of Corpus Domini – site of a Eucharistic Miracle. Check into hotel for 3 nights, bed & breakfast.

Day 2 
Drive to Ivrea for Mass at the tomb of Bl. Thaddeus McCarthy, Bishop of Ross (1482), and Cork & Cloyne (1490). Continue to nearby Sordevolo and enjoy the world famous Passion Play, commencing at 16.30 – our trip includes first class tickets. Return to hotel late evening.

Day 3 
Morning visit the Cathedral of St John for Mass and view the Holy Shroud. Afternoon visit to the Salesian Motherhouse Compound and visitor centre.

Day 4
Morning drive to Becchi – birthplace of Don Bosco, and celebrate Mass in the Basilica dedicated to him. Drive to Milan. Visit the Basilica of St Ambrose, and the Cathedral. Our panoramic tour of the city includes the La Scala Opera House, Sforzesco Castle, Basilica of San Lorenzo, and the Brera Art Gallery. Afternoon visit the Museum to see Leonardo de Vinci’s masterpiece “The Last Supper”. Check into hotel for 1 night, bed & breakfast

Day 5 
Morning drive to Bobbio and visit the Shrine of St Columbanus, who died here 1400 years ago in 615 AD. Afternoon free in Milan. Evening transfer to Milan Malpensa airport for return Aer Lingus flight to Dublin, departing at 21.45hrs, and arriving at 23.15hrs.

*It is our intention to follow the itinerary as outlined above, however due to many factors like local holidays, traffic or weather conditions it may be necessary to make changes to the order of events or even the cancelation of certain events.
